A GUIDE TO CHOOSING YOUR LABORATORY WORK TOPS/ WORK SURFACE

MATERIAL CHEMICAL RESISTANT
APPLICATIONS
EPOXY RESIN (KEMRESIN®) Excellent resistance to practically all acids, alkalies and solvents. Highly resistant to heat and normal physical abuse. Use wherever optimum physical and chemical resisting properties are required.
STAINLESS STEEL Good chemical resistance to a wide range of reagents. Recommended for sterile and radiological laboratories.
HARDWOOD, OAK OR MAPLE Fair chemical resistance, but not recommended for
use in chemical laboratories.
Excellent top material for Physics tables, Electronic benches, and other tables where mechanical or physical work levels are prevalent.
COMPOSITE RESIN Good chemical resistance to wide range of acids,
alkalies and solvents.
Use wherever a high degree of chemical resistance is required. Not recommended for fume hood worksurfaces.
HIGH-PRESSURE LAMINATES Fair chemical resistance to wide range of acids, alkalies and solvents. Recommended for light duty purposes.
SOLID PHENOLIC COMPOSITE High chemical resistance & moderate to high corrosive resistance Labs requiring work surfaces that are exceptionally chemical resistant, impervious and hygienic
NATURAL SAND STONE (GRANITE) Moderate chemical & corrosive resistance, fair fungal resistance General laboratory countertops & healthcare / hospital countertops
