  • This act was set up by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) decades ago
  • The aim was that every working environment should create a healthy and safe space for their employees to work within
  • The Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program gives third-party providers the approval to conduct safety testing for laboratory equipment
  • Laboratories are then required to undergo testing or use equipment that are already certified with this certification
Underwriter Laboratories (UL Mark)
  • This organisation primarily works on these four functions: testing, inspection, certification, auditing, and validation
  • They’ve created over 1500 standards and can be found under three types: Listed, Classified, and Recognized
  • Listed — Tested & approved
  • Classified — Approved but only for special cases
  • Recognized — Limited testing, preferred as a component for other tested products

  • One of the most well-known organisations creating regulatory standards worldwide
  • The ISO/TC 48 standard is made specifically for standardising certification processes for devices, apparatus, and equipment
