  • Best for maintenance of animals after quarantine<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Inoculated with Risk Group 1 organisms<\/span><\/li>\n
  • GMT practices are mandatory<\/span><\/li>\n
  • SOPs must be developed by a dedicated officer & medical surveillance team must be instituted<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
ABSL-2<\/span><\/td>\nABSL-1 + hazard warnings + Class I\/ II BSCs<\/span><\/td>\n\n

  • Biohazard warnings are a must<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Design \u2013 Doors must be inwards & closing; heating, lighting & ventilation must be appropriate<\/span><\/li>\n

  • Use of sharp instruments is restricted<\/span><\/li>\n

  • Facility must be separated from other areas using double door entrance<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Mechanical ventilation is a must along with exhaust combined with HEPA filters; recirculation must be avoided<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Autoclaves and incinerators must be readily available<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Animals inoculated with Risk 3 organisms must be housed in cages separate from these units<\/span><\/li>\n
  • PPE must be decontaminated before wash; bedding should be dust-free<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Windows must be break-proof<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Staff must be immunized<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
ABSL-4<\/span><\/td>\nABSL-3 + strictly limited access + Class III BSCs + decontamination on all exits<\/span><\/td>\n\n
